To fill an anonymous request for an abrosexual flag made to a blog that solicited them. [1]
The flag answers a request. On 21 July 2014 an anonymous asker wrote to the Tumblr flag-making blog then named pride-flags-for-us: "could you guys possibly make an abrosexual pride flag?? maybe something along the lines of the typical five color flags that fades from #46D294 to white to #EE1766." A moderator signing as Mod Chad posted the flag the same day: "Here's the flag I made using your suggestion." [1] The two ends and the centre are the asker's; the light green and light pink between them, and the drawing, are Mod Chad's. The circulating attributions do not usually make that division. [2][1]
The prefix is sometimes said to come from the Ancient Greek habrós, "graceful, delicate, luxurious." Merriam-Webster gives the etymology as "abro- (of uncertain origin) + sexual" and notes that the Greek derivation is claimed "On multiple Internet forums." Merriam-Webster defines it as "of, relating to, or characterized by fluidity in one's sexual orientation (as moving from bisexuality to pansexuality to asexuality)" and records that abrosexual people "experience fluctuations in terms of who they're attracted to as well as how intense their attraction is." Mod Chad is the signature of a moderator of the Tumblr flag-making blog pride-flags-for-us, since renamed pride-flags, who drew the abrosexual flag on 21 July 2014 to an anonymous asker's colour specification. The work that is Mod Chad's is the raster and the two steps the request left open: the light green at #A3E9CA and the light pink at #F78BB3, measured in the original file. The blog described itself: "If it exists, there is a pride flag for it. If there isn't, this blog will make one." Abrosexuality occupies a conceptually distinct position from the other multisexual-spectrum identities.
