[1] Boyflux describes an identity in which a person feels mostly or entirely male much of the time while the intensity of that male identity fluctuates, and it can be fluid with any other gender experience. [1] The flag carries three blue bands for that fluctuation and a five-bar canton for the genders a boyflux person can also be fluid with. [1]

The post defines boyflux as 'When one feels mostly or all male most of the time but experiences fluctuating intensities of male identity. This can be fluid with any other identity,' and gives an example of a boyflux person being male 50 percent of the time, agender 25 percent of the time, and a mix the rest. The post notes that boyflux can be compared to duraboy or agenderflux but does not require or imply being either wholly male or at all agender. [1]

kitsuneshay-blog is the pseudonymous Tumblr creator who coined the paired terms boyflux and girlflux and designed both original flags in a single post of 19 August 2015. No identification beyond the Tumblr pseudonym is documented. [1]
I couldn't find a gender that really fit me so I coined my own term. This could be considered a subtype of genderfluid or bigender but I didn't like the connotations/implication those genders had (ie. the connotation of being both the 2 binary genders or fluid between the 2). [1]

Circulated on Tumblr from 2015: pride-color-schemes reproduced the definitions with credit to kitsuneshay-blog from July 2016, and archival blogs preserve the origin post in reblog chains identifying it as the origin of boyflux and girlflux.
