kitsuneshay coined the term and posted the flag in a single Tumblr entry on August 19, 2015, explicitly to fill a gap zie felt was not addressed by genderfluid or bigender. The post defines boyflux as 'When one feels mostly or all male most of the time but experiences fluctuating intensities of male identity. This can be fluid with any other identity,' and gives an example of a boyflux person being male 50 percent of the time, agender 25 percent of the time, and a mix the rest. kitsuneshay is a Tumblr user, posting under the blog title Odd fox, who self-identifies with the given name Sé or Shay, zie/hir/hirself pronouns, and the descriptor 'Kitsune creature.' On August 19, 2015 zie posted a single entry coining the terms boyflux and girlflux and presenting the original flag designs for both. [1]
I couldn't find a gender that really fit me so I coined my own term. This could be considered a subtype of genderfluid or bigender but I didn't like the connotations/implication those genders had (ie. the connotation of being both the 2 binary genders or fluid between the 2). [1]
