Flags for Utopia

My Utopian Pride Flag series examines the power of flags to conjure new worlds derived from the infinite possibilities of Queerness. Performative gestures on the flags’ designs correlate to dreams of analogous transformations in the community at large, such as increased intersectionality and collectivism. They challenge the status of our present-day symbols by taking up equal space flying in the sky.
