The design deliberately replaced the purple of the demisexual flag with green to anchor the flag in aromantic-spectrum symbolism, making visible a distinction that had been obscured: demiromantic identity describes people who experience romantic attraction only after forming a deep emotional bond, and sits on the aromantic spectrum rather than the asexual one.
